The Fox and Hounds at Hunsdon has built itself as one of Hertfordshire's leading gastropubs, many thanks mostly to your attempts of chef/proprietor James Rix along with his wife Bianca. He made a name for himself when you look at the kitchens of Alastair minimal while the Cow living area before upping sticks and moving off to home Counties.

At lunchtime, the kitchen provides a variety of inexpensive meals such as whole grilled sardines with salsa verde, chicken and leek sausages with mash, or linguine with crab, chilli and garlic. Evening meals follow the same course, although the repertoire is fleshed out with some even more ambitious tips eg roast fillet of cod with leeks, mussels and saffron sauce or peppered venison steak with mash, beetroot and interface sauce. Sweets are usually such things as apple and Amaretti tart with Calvados crme frache or poached pear tarte Tatin.

Fixed-price menus tend to be particularly the best value: your meal is 12.50 for 2 courses and 16.50 for three programs. The Fox and Hounds even offers a keenly priced selection of well-chosen wines, specially from France.
